Sex and gender in clinical research

3.30 PM – 4:30 PM GMT+1

Sex and gender are among the main social determinants of health. In basic terms, sex refers to biological aspects such as chromosomes, reproductive organs, hormones, and anatomy, while gender encompasses social elements like personal experiences, culture, and society. Understanding these differences is crucial for conducting inclusive and effective clinical research.

Our mission at COUCH Health is to achieve health equity by changing how society, the health system, health researchers, and clinical trial teams interact with people based on their sex and gender.

In this session, join us to:

  • Discover how sex and gender contribute to our experiences of health and illness.
  • Understand the differences between sex and gender, and why they matter in clinical research.
  • Make a difference to patients with marginalised sexes and genders in your own studies.
